In 2011 we developed a web-based interactive tourist guide through Sakhalin region for the region's Agency of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy.
The guide is based on a map rendered by our engineers using the data from several open sources. Several overlays were marked at the map presenting objects attractive for the potential tourists. These include hotels, campings, resorts, restaurants, cafes and other tourist services. Many of those objects are presented at the website by panoramic images demonstrating the services offered.
Sights were also marked on the map and accompanied with its address and some helpful information.
Natural sceneries present particular interest for the tourists on Sakhalin. We used the high resolution panoramic imaging technology to picture the most beautiful landscapes of Sakhalin. Their resolution was about 1 gigapixel.
We also used our street panoramic imaging technology to shoot road in major cities of the region: Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Kholmsk, Aniva, Korsakov.
All of the text information is available in five languages: Russian, English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese.
